Once the three measurements are obtained, the sonographer can calculate the bladder volume using the following formula:

      (/6) x length x breadth x depth = bladder volume

The mathematical constant pi, which is approximately equal to 3.14, is represented by in this formula. The length, width, and depth should all be measured in centimetres.

It should be noted that this method of measuring bladder capacity is not always completely precise and can be influenced by factors such as bladder shape and patient posture. Furthermore, the accuracy of the measurements can be affected by the sonographer’s experience and the quality of the calculating bladder volume on ultrasound machine.
